About the Role

Central Retail in Vietnam is looking for a Database Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, security, and availability of enterprise database systems across multiple business units.

As a Database Engineer, you will work closely with infrastructure, application, and business teams to optimize database performance, support mission-critical systems, and drive continuous improvements in database operations and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Performance

• Monitor, maintain, and optimize database performance.

• Perform database performance tuning and query optimization.

• Develop and maintain database design documentation.

• Prepare and execute database deployment scripts.

• Administer databases across development, testing, staging, and production environments.

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery

• Design, implement, and test database backup and recovery strategies.

• Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.

• Ensure database availability and business continuity.

Data & Reporting

• Design and maintain business reports.

• Develop SQL queries and data extraction solutions for business users.

• Support ad hoc reporting and analytics requests.

Incident & Service Management

• Troubleshoot database-related issues and perform root cause analysis.

• Support Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, and Release Management processes.

• Coordinate with stakeholders during major incidents and service disruptions.

• Drive service improvements and operational excellence.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Support developers and testers with database activities.

• Conduct knowledge sharing and database training sessions.

• Participate in service review meetings with internal teams and external partners.

• Contribute to infrastructure and database-related projects.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Minimum 4 years of experience in database administration and development.

• Experience working with large-scale enterprise systems.

• Familiarity with Linux/Open Source environments.

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Database Performance Tuning and Query Optimization.

• Hands-on experience with:

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Oracle Database

  • PostgreSQL

  • NoSQL Databases

• Understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.

• Experience with IT Service Management practices.
